Super League Team Report 2

Super League continues to battle through this crazy year - where all other teams are also struggling with weather and sickness really taking its toll on preparations and momentum. Add a few injuries, some long term to key players - and it has been a real challenge. Thankfully the decision to have a deep squad has really helped us being able to field competitive teams. Despite some weeks needing some players from reserve grade to back up and play again with reserve grade, we are really proud at the style of play and philosophy filtering down from the coaches into the work done on the pitch.

First grade have not had the results they have deserved, yet, can be extremely proud of themselves at both individual performances and the style of football being played collectively. A recent example of this would be a recent loss to Thornleigh Thunder, where we have the lions share of possession, had many opportunities - and hit the post twice; basically everything but score. However in the dying seconds of the game, a rare corner for the opposition was given and our goalkeeper was fouled when catching a routine cross. The offending barge resulted in a spill of the ball which was knocked over the line as the very last kick of the game. A very cruel game indeed. However, we continue - and performances continue to be nothing short of fantastic in entertaining and very closely competed games. Unfortunately it does not look like finals football will be possible for firsts, however with some key injuries back in action - we are keen to kick on and play our game with no pressure and let the results eventually look after themselves.

Reserve grade have some great momentum about them and continue to get results. Most recently a hard fought win over Northern HFC in driving rain, in a relocated game at the synthetic West Epping Oval. The depth of the squad has truly been tested, and we are proud to have such quality, that no matter who steps in, becomes part of a team that is pleased to encourage each other and enjoy their football.

Next up will be two very entertaining matches at home (Harold West) against local rivals Epping FC Red on Saturday 23rd July. Reserve grade will be determined to get the points to continue their pursuit for silverware - and first grade will be keen to get some results to show for their season - and what better satisfaction than against our rivals. Please get down to support us - it is very much appreciated - 1pm and 3pm kick off times as usual.

Come on Roselea!
