AAL2 Match Report - 29 July 2018

It was a hot blustery day at Morrison Bay as we took on the AA2 premiers, Macquarie Uni, in our second Championship round. In our last 2 encounters we lost against Macquarie, so we knew we had to produce something special. We got off to a confident start, pushing the ball around nicely. Neither team managed to break down the defence until 5 minutes from halftime Maddie got in behind Macquarie out wide and played a perfect ball across the box on the ground. Ashleigh came steaming in from the left wing and got a shot away only for the ball to hit the upright and bounce clear.

We went into the break 0-0 feeling good about our game.

In the second half, we continued our confident play when Gabriella latched onto a through ball and in a one-on-one poked the ball into the back of the net. Five minutes later, a swirling spinning ball flummoxed our defenders and Macquarie scored to draw level. 10 minutes later saw a superb passage of play with Sara, Gillian and Gabriella combining to play in Gloria who broke through for a one-on-one and tapped it in to give us the lead. We hung on until full time to record our first win against Macquarie.
